THE GALAXY GROUP IN VIETNAM
Originally founded in 1994 as a consulting company aimed at helping foreign investors enter the Vietnamese market, "Galaxy" has since grown into a mid-sized conglomerate comprised of 6 main business units: Galaxy Studio (film/cinema/entertainment), Galaxy PR, Galaxy Mobi, Publications, Food Processing, and Restaurants.
GALAXY STUDIO: In 2003, Galaxy Studio, the first private movie company in Vietnam, ventured into the movie distribution and film production businesses, and soon began importing blockbuster films into the Vietnamese market. Distributed films have included X-Men, Titanic, Hero, Minority Report, House of Flying Daggers, The Day After Tomorrow, Casino Royale and many others.
In June 2004, Galaxy released its debut movie named “Long Legged Beauty” which enjoyed record box office sales (this film was later licensed to Sony Pictures and Television, in 2006). In Feb 2005, Galaxy launched its second film “Nu Tuong Cuop” ("Gangster Ladies") and again earned high marks both at the box office and with movie critics. 2006 saw the release of arguably the funniest romantic comedy to come out of Vietnam - "2 Trong 1" ("2 in 1"). 2007 saw the release of Galaxy's controversial gay-themed comedy called "Trai Nhay" ("Taxi Boys"). Finally, 2008's Tet Film was the record-breaking box-office smash hit "Kiss of Death."
In September 2007, Galaxy signed with Sony Home Entertainment to be their exclusive distributor in Vietnam. (See "News/Stores" page for store locations where DVDs from Sony Home Entertainment are currently available in Vietnam.)
GALAXY CINEMAS: The first Galaxy Cinema (on Nguyen Du Street, HCMC) was opened in May 2005. This entertainment complex is a Hollywood-style theatre with three screens, which was constructed under the careful eye of US cinema specialists. In early 2007, Galaxy opened a second cinema at Nguyen Trai Street, also in Ho Chi Minh City. An aggressive cinema development plan is in place.

OUR VISION - 2008 AND BEYOND: Committed to a long term business strategy in Vietnam, Galaxy Studio is now involved in a full spectrum of movie-related businesses: film distribution, movie production, home entertainment, and cinemas. 2008 will also see Galaxy venturing into Television and Home Entertainment.

Finally, though Galaxy is a profit-oriented cutting edge corporation, the directors also have a strong sense of community involvement, as seen in their work with the Red Cross of Vietnam.
